7.3L Power Stroke – CRANKSHAFT FRONT SEAL – Removal

1. Remove the radiator. See RADIATOR. Raise and support the vehicle. Remove the flywheel housing cover                      retaining screws and flywheel housing cover.
2. If engine is in vehicle, use a breaker bar to prevent the crankshaft from rotating. If engine is not in vehicle, use the      Flywheel Holding Tool (303-103, T74P-6375-A), for bench overhaul.
3. Remove the crankshaft vibration damper, using the Crankshaft Harmonic Balancer Remover (303-144, T79T-              6316-A). See Fig. 110. Using Lube Tube Remover, 307-160 (T86P-70001-A) and Slide Hammer (307-005, T59L-          100-B), carefully remove the crankshaft front seal. See Fig. 111.

4. Use Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Service Set (303-S485, T94T-6701-AH) to remove the crankshaft damper wear ring.      Assemble the step plate adapter, damper wear ring remover, bearing collet sleeve, remover tube and forcing                  screw, from the rear oil seal service set, to the crankshaft vibration damper. See Fig. 112. Tighten the forcing screw      until the crankshaft damper wear ring is pulled free from the hub of the crankshaft vibration damper.
