The functions of the DDE 4.0 and 4.1 consist of several specific subsections:
• Signal pre-processing
• Injection-rate control
• High pressure control
• Exhaust gas recirculation
• Boost-pressure control
• Additional functions
• Monitoring concept
In the following, these subsections are detailed to a greater or lesser extent in order to provide an insight into the operating principle of the control unit and its functions.
For present purposes, the following two groups of DDE functions are ignored from the control unit’s point of view.
• CAN functions
• External communication (diagnosis)
