Cummins ISX11.9 CM2250 – Service Manual 010-046   Turbocharger Oil Supply Line

WARNING  Batteries can emit explosive gases. To reduce the possibility of personal injury, always ventilate the compartment before servicing the batteries. To reduce the possibility of arcing, remove the negative (-) battery cable first and attach the negative (-) battery cable last.

• Disconnect the batteries. Refer to the OEM service manual.

Use a second wrench to hold the fitting while loosening the line fitting.

Disconnect the turbocharger oil supply line from the oil filter head and the turbocharger.

WARNING  When using solvents, acids, or alkaline materials for cleaning, follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for use. Wear goggles and protective clothing to reduce the possibility of personal injury.

WARNING  Wear appropriate eye and face protection when using compressed air. Flying debris and dirt can cause personal injury.

Clean the turbocharger oil supply line with solvent.

Dry with compressed air.

Check the face seal o-rings on the fittings for cuts or deformation. Replace as necessary.

Check the turbocharger oil supply line for cracks or other damage. Replace if damage is found.

CAUTION  Do not bend or kink the hose while tightening. Doing so can possibly damage the line.

CAUTION  Check the face of the oil supply fitting on engine and on the turbocharger to make sure the o-ring is in place and is not damaged. A damaged or missing o-ring will result in an oil leak.

CAUTION  Proper routing of the turbocharger oil supply tube is critical to prevent failure.  Avoid any tube-to-metal contact.

Pour 50-60 cc [2 to 3 oz] of clean engine oil into the turbocharger oil supply opening.

Install the turbocharger oil supply hose onto the lubricating oil filter head oil supply fitting. The oil supply hose must point directly downward in order for it to properly connect to the oil supply fitting on the lubricating oil filter head.

Make sure the o-rings are in place and install the turbocharger oil supply line to the turbocharger

Tighten the connections.

• Connect the batteries. Refer to the OEM service manual.
• Operate the engine and check for leaks.
