Preparatory Steps

 WARNING 

Do not remove the pressure cap from a hot engine. Wait until the coolant temperature is below 50°C [120°F] before removing the pressure cap. Heated coolant spray or steam can cause personal injury.
 WARNING 

Coolant is toxic. Keep away from children and pets. If not reused, dispose of in accordance with local environmental regulations.

SMALL | MEDIUM | LARGE

Remove

 TOC

Remove the water header plug.

SMALL | MEDIUM | LARGE
   

Inspect for Reuse

 TOC

Inspect the water header plug for cracks or other damage.

Replace if damage is found.

Inspect the o-ring for cuts, nicks, or other damage.

Replace if damage is found.

SMALL | MEDIUM | LARGE
   

Install

 TOC

Lubricate the water header plug with vegetable oil.

Tighten the water header plug capscrew.

Torque Value:  47  n.m  [35 ft-lb]

Finishing Steps

 TOC

 WARNING 

Coolant is toxic. Keep away from children and pets. If not reused, dispose of in accordance with local environmental regulations.
