Cummins ISX11.9 CM2250 – Service Manual 001-117   Front Cover Seal Plate

Install a new seal into the groove on the back of the front cover seal plate.

Make sure the tabs on the seal mate with the notches in the grooves and press the seal into place.

Install the front cover seal plate and the eight mounting capscrews onto the cylinder block.

Tighten the capscrews just enough to hold the front cover seal plate in position.

NOTE: Make sure the two sealing feet at the bottom of the seal are installed and seated correctly.

Use crankshaft oil seal driver (1), Part Number 4918991, to align the front cover seal plate with the crankshaft.

Install the seal driver onto the crankshaft flange and into the bore of the front cover seal plate.

Use a non-metallic hammer to align the front cover seal plate with the oil pan flange, so it is parallel (flush) to the cylinder block pan rail within 0.127 mm [0.005 in].

Tighten the capscrews in the sequence illustrated.

Remove the crankshaft oil seal driver, Part Number 4918991.
