6.7L Cummins Compressed Air System – Air Compressor – Clean and Inspect for Reuse

Inspect the compressor housing for cracks or other damage.
Inspect the drive gear for cracks or other damage.
NOTE: For Wabco branded air compressors, the drive gear can not be removed . If the drive gear is damaged,
the air compressor assembly must be replaced.
NOTE: For Knorr-Bremse branded air compressors, the drive gear can be removed . If the drive gear is damaged,
remove the drive gear. Reference the Disassemble step of this procedure.

Clean the air compressor and rear gear housing gasket mounting surfaces.
Inspect the gasket surfaces of the rear gear housing and air compressor for damage.
If nicks or burrs can not be removed with an abrasive pad, Part Number 3823258, or equ ivalent, the damaged
component must be replaced .

Inspect the air compressor support brackets for cracks or other damage.
If any cracks are found on the air compressor support brackets, replace the damaged bracket.

Inspect the air compressor oil supply port in the rear gear housing and the air compressor. Verify the port is free and
clear of debris.
