6.7L Cummins Troubleshooting – Engine Will Not Shut Off

Electronic fault codes active or high counts of inactive fault codes

View and troubleshoot the fault codes with IN SITE”‘. Refer to the Troubleshooting and Repair
Manual, CM21 00 and CM2150 Electronic Control System, Bulletin 4021570.

Keyswitch circuit is malfunctioning

Check the vehicle, equipment, or vessel keyswitch circuit. Refer to Procedure 019-064 in the
Troubleshooting and Repair Manual, CM21 00 and CM2150 Electronic Control System, Bulletin
4021570.

Close crankcase ventilation valve is leaking or malfunctioning

Inspect the closed crankcase ventilation valve for obstruction or damage. Refer to Procedure
003-023.

Turbocharger oil seal is leaking

Check the turbocharger compressor and turbine seals. Refer to Procedure 010-033.

Engine is running on fumes drawn into the air intake

Check the air intake ducts. Locate and isolate the source of the fumes. Repair as necessary. Refer to
the OEM service manual.

Electronic control module (ECM) is malfunctioning

Replace the ECM. Refer to Procedure 019-031 in the Troubleshooting and Repair Manual, CM21 00
and CM2150 Electronic Control System, Bulletin 4021570.
