6.7L Power Stroke – Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT)


The ECT sensor is a 2 wire thermistor-type sensor. The PCM applies 5 volts to the ECT sensor circuit. The sensor
changes the internal resistance as the coolant temperature changes. The PCM uses the ECT sensor for engine temperature protection, input for EGR function, fuel control, and engine fan operation.
The ECT sensor measures temperature of the primary cooling system.
