Preparatory Steps

Remove

Remove the four mounting capscrews that attach the crankcase breather element housing to the breather housing bracket, and remove the housing assembly.

Disassemble

Disassemble the crankcase breather assembly. Refer to Procedure 003-019 in Section 3.

NOTE: All capscrews are captive capscrews.

If necessary, remove the crankcase pressure sensor. Refer to Procedure 019-445 in Section 3.

Clean and Inspect for Reuse

 WARNING 

Wear appropriate eye and face protection when using compressed air. Flying debris and dirt can cause personal injury.

Clean the crankcase breather housing and the crankcase breather cover with solvent.

Dry with compressed air.

Check for cracks in the crankcase breather element housing and the crankcase breather cover. Replace the parts if necessary.

Assemble

Assemble the crankcase breather assembly. Refer to Procedure 003-019 in Section 3.

If necessary, install the crankcase pressure sensor. Refer to Procedure 019-445 in Section 3.

Install

TOC

Install the crankcase breather housing assembly.

Install and tighten the four mounting capscrews.

Torque Value:  20  n.m  [177 in-lb]

Finishing Steps

  • Install the crankcase breather vent tube and drain line. Refer to Procedure 003-018 in Section 3.
  • Connect the crankcase pressure sensor wiring harness.
  • Operate the engine and check for leaks and proper operation.
