Cummins ISX11.9 CM2250 – Service Manual 008-006 Coolant Filter

Apply a thin film of clean engine oil, or its equivalent, to the coolant filter gasket sealing surface before installing the coolant filter.		SMALL \| MEDIUM \| LARGE

CAUTION

Mechanical overtightening can distort the threads or damage the filter head.

Install the coolant filter.

Tighten the coolant filter ½ to ¾ of a turn after initial gasket contact, or as specified by the manufacturer.

Turn the coolant ON/OFF valve to the ON (1) position.

SMALL | MEDIUM | LARGE

Install the radiator pressure cap.		SMALL \| MEDIUM \| LARGE

WARNING

Do not remove the pressure cap from a hot engine. Wait until the coolant temperature is below 50°C [120°F] before removing the pressure cap. Heated coolant spray or steam can cause personal injury.

Operate the engine until the coolant temperature is above 82°C [180°F] and check for coolant leaks.

After the air has been purged from the system, check the coolant level.
