Cummins ISX11.9 CM2250 – Service Manual 011-073   Exhaust Manifold Turbocharger Mounting Stud Replacement

Apply penetrating oil to the base of the tubocharger mounting stud to be removed.

Multiple applications of the penetrating oil may be necessary to free the turbocharger mounting stud. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

Use a standard stud extractor to remove the turbocharger mounting stud(s) from the exhaust manifold.

Visually inspect for damaged threads in the turbocharger mounting stud holes.

Visually inspect the manifold sections for cracks or other damage.

NOTE: Install the shorter threaded end of the turbocharger mounting stud in the exhaust manifold flange.

Apply a coat of anti-seize compound to the threads.

Install the studs in the mounting flange.

Use two mounting nuts locked together to tighten the studs.
