6.7L Cummins Lubricating Oil System – Lubricating Oil Dipstick Tube – Install

If the dipstick tube option uses a pressed-in dipstick tube block insert:
• Apply a thin bead of thread sealant around the bottom of the knurled end of the tube.
• Place the knurled end of tube into the dipstick tube bore in the cylinder block.
• Use the dipstick tube installer tool, Part Number 3823875, to install the dipstick tube into the cylinder block.
• Lightly drive the dipstick tube until it seats against the block casting.
If equipped, install the flexible portion of the dipstick tube and secure with clamps.
If a flexible tube is to be used, soak the end of the nylon tube in hot water to help ease in the installation.

If the dipstick option uses an a-ring sealed dipstick tube block insert:
• Install new o-ring(s) on the dipstick tube insert.
• Lubricate the o-ring(s) with clean 15W-40 engine oil
• Install the insert into the cylinder block.
• Install and tighten the capscrew securing the insert.
Torque Value: 24 N•m [ 212 in-lb ]
If equipped, install the flexible portion of the dipstick tube and secure with clamps.
If a flexible tube is to be used, soak the end of the nylon tube in hot water to help ease in the installation.

If equipped, install any dipstick tube supports and clamps.
Install the dipstick into the dipstick tube.

If equipped, install any dipstick tube supports and clamps.
Install the dipstick into the dipstick tube.

If equipped with a locking dipstick, verify the o-ring seal is installed in the handle. Insert the dipstick into the dipstick tube, align the pins on the tube with the handle, push down, and turn the handle clockwise to lock.
