The correct coolant filter to be used is determined by the total cooling system capacity and other operational factors. Use the following procedure in the ISX 11.9 Operation and Maintenance Manual, Bulletin 2883444, to select the correct coolant filter. Refer to Procedure 018-004 in Section V.
An ON/OFF valve is provided to prevent coolant leakage while changing the coolant filter.
With the valve in the ON position (1),the coolant flows to and from the coolant filter. In the OFF position (2), the coolant flow is cut off to and from the coolant filter.
Do not remove the pressure cap from a hot engine. Wait until the coolant temperature is below 50°C [120°F] before removing the pressure cap. Heated coolant spray or steam can cause personal injury.
Do not remove the pressure cap from a hot engine. Wait until the coolant temperature is below 50°C [120°F] before removing the pressure cap. Heated coolant spray or steam can cause personal injury.
Operate the engine until the coolant temperature is above 82°C [180°F] and check for coolant leaks.
After the air has been purged from the system, check the coolant level.
