Cummins ISX11.9 CM2250 – Service Manual 011-044   EGR Valve Mounting Bracket

WARNING  Do not remove the pressure cap from a hot engine. Wait until the coolant temperature is below 50°C [120°F] before removing the pressure cap. Heated coolant spray or steam can cause personal injury.

WARNING  Coolant is toxic. Keep away from children and pets. If not reused, dispose of in accordance with local environment regulations.

• Disconnect the wiring harness from the EGR valve mounting bracket attachment points.
• Drain the cooling system. Refer to Procedure 008-018 in Section 8.
• Remove the turbocharger. Refer to Procedure 010-033 in Section 10.
• Remove the EGR cooler. Refer to Procedure 011-019 in Section 11.
• Remove the EGR valve. Refer to Procedure 011-022 in Section 11.
• Remove the EGR hose. Refer to Procedure 011-034 in Section 11.
• Remove the rear EGR connection tube. Refer to Procedure 011-069 in Section 11.
• Remove the EGR mass measurement flow assembly. Refer to Procedure 011-066 in Section 11.
• Remove any OEM components mounted to the EGR valve bracket. Refer to the OEM service manual.

Remove the EGR valve mounting bracket capscrews and the mounting bracket.

Use protective caps from the Air Handling Clean Care Kit, Part Number 4919799, to cover open points in the air handling system.

Inspect the bracket for signs of fretting, material transfer, cracks, or other damage.

Replace the EGR valve support bracket if fretting, material transfer, cracks, or other damage is found.

Position the EGR valve mounting bracket.

Install and tighten the 12 mounting capscrews.

• Install any OEM components mounted to the EGR valve bracket. Refer to the OEM service manual.
• Install the EGR mass measurement flow assembly. Refer to Procedure 011-066 in Section 11.
• Install the EGR valve. Refer to Procedure 011-022 in Section 11.
• Install the EGR hose. Refer to Procedure 011-034 in Section 11.
• Install the rear EGR connection tube. Refer to Procedure 011-069 in Section 11.
• Install the EGR cooler. Refer to Procedure 011-019 in Section 11.
• Install the turbocharger. Refer to Procedure 010-033 in Section 10.
• Fill the cooling system. Refer to Procedure 008-018 in Section 8.
• Connect the wiring harness from the EGR valve mounting bracket attachment points.
• Operate the engine and check for leaks and proper operation.
